How to Work in Germany – Your Rights & Obligations on the German Labour Market
Dear international Students,
We know a student job can be quite challenging. Not only because it is exhausting to work while studying, but also because there are many rules and laws in Germany that are uncharted territory for many of you.
Therefore, we would like to invite you to our seminar How to Work in Germany – Your Rights & Obligations on the German Labour Market:
Date: Tue, April 23rd, 2024
Time: 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM
Location: Campustheater (J.-G.-Nathusius-Ring 5, 39106 Magdeburg) of the Studentenwerk Magdeburg
Host: Jennifer Beder, Social Counselling and Dzhemile Umerova, advisory service BemA
This seminar provides an overview on these rights and obligations for international students on the German Labour Market (Part-Time Jobs, Internships,…).
We will also talk about standards of German Employment Contracts, Remuneration, protection against dismissal, working hours, labour and health protection & regulations of the immigration authority.
At the end of the seminar we will show you where you can go if you have any questions or problems regarding your employment and you will have the opportunity to ask your questions right away.
The seminar is free of charge and held in English by an experienced trainer of the advisory service BemA.
BemA provides information and consultation as well as support for migrant workers regarding the German Labour Market and consists of advisory service centres and outreach teams. The team of BemA is multilingual and can be approached in different languages.
The Services of BemA are always confidential and free of charge.
It is addressed to international students at the Otto von Guericke University and the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and is limited to 30 participants.

Fahrenheit Stipendium: Praktischer Aufenthalt an Partneruniversität in Gdánsk!
Interesse an einem einjährigen geförderten Forschungspraktika an der Medical University of Gdánsk?
Dann legen wir Ihnen eine Bewerbung um das Fahrenheit-Stipendium ans Herz!
Die Zielgruppe sind Studierende/junge Wissenschaftler:innen, die an unserer Universität eine Doktorarbeit vorbereiten, Autor:innen oder Mitautor:innen einer wissenschaftlichen Publikation sind und ihre wissenschaftlichen Interessen an einer der führenden polnischen Universitäten verfolgen möchten.
Im Rahmen eines einjährigen praktischen Aufenthalts erhalten die Stipendiat:innen ein monatlich gezahltes Stipendium (6500 PLN pro Monat, umgerechnet ca. 1400 €), eine kostenlose Unterkunft (bereitgestellt von der Stadt Gdánsk) und eine Erstattung der Reisekosten.

"Fahrenheit Universities together with Mayor of Gdańsk we are recruiting for the second edition of Fahrenheit Scholarship programme – the best three International PhD students would be invited for 12-months research stay at one of the Fahrenheit Universities, i.e. Gdansk University of Technology (https://pg.edu.pl/en), University of Gdańsk (https://en.ug.edu.pl/) and Medical University of Gdańsk (https://mug.edu.pl/).
Our universities are located near the Baltic Sea in Gdańsk, which is perspective, forward-looking, economically developed city with a coastal climate.
The participants of Fahrenheit Scholarships in a one-year internship will receive a scholarship paid monthly (6500 PLN per months), free accommodation (provided by City of Gdańsk) and the reimbursement of travel costs.
We encourage young scientists who are preparing a doctoral dissertation at your university, are the authors or joint authors of a scientific publication and wish to pursue their scientific interests at one of Polish leading universities - to take advantage of the offer. This is a unique opportunity not only to conduct interdisciplinary research as part of a PhD dissertation, but also to gain international experience and make new valuable contacts.
