On Saturday, November 11, 2023, the Tumor Center Magdeburg/Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. organizes for the 23rd time the family information day "Active against cancer" in the Johanniskirche Magdeburg. From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., visitors can once again look forward to a varied program of lectures and information booths, and thus to lively opportunities for exchanges with experts on the topics of "Healthy living and prevention", as well as "Early detection of cancer and new treatment options". Host Professor Dr. Dimitrios Mougiakakos, Chairman of the Tumor Center and Director of the Magdeburg University Clinic for Hematology and Oncology, extends a warm invitation: "With the Family Info Day, we would like to once again offer visitors an open space for uncomplicated exchange with the numerous contact persons from all disciplines. It is important to us to inform people affected by cancer and their relatives about the best possible therapy and care options, but also to motivate healthy people to do something for cancer prevention themselves."
On offer will be information on blood and stem cell donation and possible typing, tips on skin cancer prevention, nutrition tips with samples, suggestions for an active lifestyle, and a look at the walk-in uterus model. Experts in the field of oncology and prevention, as well as rehabilitation and self-help groups will be present.

Among others, Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann, Minister for Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment of Saxony-Anhalt, Wolfgang Beck, State Secretary in the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Equality, Prof. Dr. Jörg Fahlke, Medical Director and Chief Physician of General and Visceral Surgery at Johanniter Hospital Stendal, and Dr. Ingo Gottschalk, Councillor, Department of Social Affairs, Youth and Health of the City of Magdeburg are expected to attend.
