Successful Future Day at the UMMD
On 3 April 2025, Magdeburg University Medicine once again opened its doors for Future Day and welcomed numerous curious pupils. This day, also known as Girls‘ Day and Boys’ Day, enables young people to familiarise themselves with professions that are traditionally less likely to be chosen by their gender. They can gain their first practical experience.

A total of 40 young people aged between 11 and 17 took part. The special highlights included practical stations such as making a cream, learning about first aid measures, measuring vital signs and getting to know operating theatre instruments.
The Directorate of Nursing provided exciting insights into the professional fields of nursing, operating theatre and physiotherapy, while the Human Resources Development department presented the areas of administration and pharmacy as well as the logistical processes in the hospital.
In addition, the University Clinic for Haematology and Oncology (KHAE) offered an insight into research: how do you become a researcher and what are your tasks? A laboratory Olympics gave participants the opportunity to try out their own skills. The University Clinic for Neuroradiology (KNRAD) presented the exciting world of CT and MRI diagnostics and demonstrated how strokes are treated. The young people were also able to try out wires and catheters for themselves. The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Immunology (IMKI) was also represented and explained how the immune system protects us from diseases and how immunological research contributes to new therapies.
Due to the consistently positive response, Magdeburg University Hospital is planning to take part in the Future Day again in 2026. The Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital Magdeburg A. ö. R. are looking forward to once again offering young visitors a combination of practical experience and inspiring discussions with professionals - an ideal opportunity to explore potential training opportunities in the healthcare sector.
