University Medicine Magdeburg welcomes new first-semester students

16.10.2024 -

This year, 198 students, including 42 from Saxony-Anhalt, are starting their studies in human medicine. In addition, 11 students have started their Master's degree programme in Immunology. The first-semester students were welcomed by Dean of Studies Prof Dr Christoph Lohmann at the opening event of the induction days. There, the new students were given their first insights into the organisation of their studies, use of the library and the e-learning programme. On the first day, they had the opportunity to get to know their pre-clinical lecturers. The introductory lectures also took place in the first week. The official start of the semester was on 14 October 2024.

Prof. Dr Christoph Lohmann emphasised: "Medicine is in a constant state of change and the demands on doctors are also increasing as a result. At our faculty, we offer you a first-class education. Our aim is not only to provide you with sound specialist knowledge, but also to prepare you optimally for the practical and social challenges of your future profession. At the same time, we want to encourage you to shape your professional future in Saxony-Anhalt in the long term."

At the start of the new semester, 11 students from the rural doctor quota will once again be introduced to GP medicine in what is now the 6th year of the ‘GP class (m, f, d)’, for example with regular practice days with general practitioners in private practice under the organisational and scientific coordination of Dr Robin John and Prof. em. Dr Thomas Lichte within the HAWIRA competence centre.
