Radiology, Ophthalmology, Functional Diagnostics
In radiology, the anesthesiologist is involved in diagnostic and interventional radiology. For imaging tomographies (MRI,CT), sedation procedures are predominantly performed on infants and young children, but can also be performed on non-compliant adults.
In interventional radiology, the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care is available for general anesthesia with the possibility of common invasive techniques and monitoring procedures, e.g., for therapeutic embolization of vascular malformations in neuroradiology or for TIPSS in decompensated liver cirrhosis.
In the Eye Clinic, the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care performs the common procedures of general anesthesia using modern anesthesia techniques on patients of all ages. Characteristic for ophthalmology are the extreme age groups. Both an above-average proportion of geriatric patients and premature infants are anesthetized.
In functional diagnostics, the Department of Anaesthesiology supports the respective department, for example in pulmonology with jet ventilation for rigid bronchoscopy or the cardiac catheterization laboratory for pacemaker/defibrillator implantations, TAVI and mitra-clip.
