Admission
The Department of Trauma Surgery deals with many emergencies, so that a stay at our station cannot always be planned in advance. Many patients come directly from the central emergency room to us, where the admission formalities are done by the nursing staff.
If you come to our ward for an appointment, you were likely in the pre-admission preparation the day before.
On the day of admission, you will be contacted at 6:30am on our station (house 60a, level 4, station 5). The surgery is usually scheduled for the same day, so you should be fasted according the previous days’ consultation.
The nurses of our ward will welcome you and assign you your room. In certain cases, your room may not be vacant, as cleaning is still carried out. We ask kindly for your patience in this case.
For your stay at the ward, you may bring some personal items to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
- Pajamas
- Toiletry
- Bath towel
- Bathrobe
- Comfortable casual clothing
- Slippers
- Sneakers or other sturdy footwear
- Reading materials
- Addresses and telephone numbers of relatives or close friends
You should not bring valuables or large sums of money or keep them in a safe with the ward nurses.
Of course, you can also bring a notebook or a laptop. Internet access is free for all patients.
For the use of television and telephones , chip cards can be purchased. The fee for using the TV and telephone is € 3.00 per day. Please ask the ward nurses if you have a request.
