Pediatric Intensive Care
Our interdisciplinary pediatric intensive care unit has 8 intensive care beds (6 ventilation and 2 IMC places). Here we treat patients with a broad spectrum of internal and surgical diseases from the neonatal period to the beginning of adulthood.
Children with acute and chronic serious illnesses receive specialized treatment from our multi-professional team of intensive care pediatric nurses, intensive care physicians, physiotherapists, social workers, child psychologists and occupational therapists. If necessary, our team receives additional support from the parents' counseling service and the hospital's pastoral care service. For the successful therapy of our patients, there is constant cooperation with all conservative and surgical specialties of the hospital (e.g. pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, ENT, interventional radiology). In cooperation with the Clinic for Nephrology, we perform acute dialysis and, together with our blood bank, apharesis procedures. Furthermore, in cooperation with the Clinic for Cardiac Surgery, there is the possibility to use emergency ECMO for children over 30 kg.
An association affiliated with the pediatric intensive care unit takes care of socio-economic and psychosocial concerns of our patients and families. (www.kinderkleeblatt.de).
