DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY UND PSYCHOTHERAPY

Clinical Concept

The Department follows an integrative psychiatric–psychotherapeutic overall concept and comprises the following areas:

  • an acute ward (20 beds)
  • two open wards (17 and 12 beds respectively)
  • a gerontopsychiatric ward (16 beds)
  • a polyclinic outpatient department
  • a psychiatric–psychotherapeutic and psychosomatic day-clinic area (10 places each)
  • a research and scientific laboratory area

  • Psychopathological assessment
  • Psychometric procedures
  • Structural and functional neuroimaging methods (CT, MRI, SPECT, EEG)
  • Psychodynamic and behavioural-therapy exploration
  • Laboratory diagnostics

The range of therapies includes

  • differentiated psychopharmacological therapy
  • behavioural therapy
  • cognitive and supportive therapy methods
  • psychodynamic / psychoanalytic methods
  • relaxation techniques
  • sociotherapy
  • music therapy
  • occupational therapy
  • physiotherapy
    • somatically oriented
    • psychologically oriented (e.g. movement therapy and relaxation therapy)

In 2009, 1,470 patients were treated as inpatients at the Department. The average length of treatment was 15.6 days. In the polyclinic, 3,582 outpatient contacts took place.
