Ergo therapy is offered in the Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine in all areas: in the acute psychiatric, geronto-psychiatric, day clinic, psychosomatic area, as well as in the area of outpatient psychiatry. These areas are supervised by five occupational therapists. The main aim of occupational therapy (instructional and Gestalt therapy) is to promote certain abilities and skills with the help of manual and creative techniques. The starting point for occupational therapy treatment is the patient's current condition. The therapy program includes: Working with clay, silk painting, basket weaving, soapstone carving, various painting techniques, paper and cardboard work, woodwork, etc. The choice of a technique is made in consultation between the therapist and the patient.

The different therapy forms of the Ergo Therapy in the Clinic are as follows:

1. Individual Therapy

   Patients who have major deficits in various areas due to their illness are given individual, intensive support to enable them to integrate into the group.

   Open-Group Therapy

2. This therapy takes place in a group, whereby the patients deal with different techniques in order to improve concentration, endurance, action skills and resilience.

   Project Group

   Here, several patients work as a team on a task in order to solve it together. Contact and communication can be promoted in this way, as can teamwork.

   Self-Expression Therapy

   A means of therapy (material e.g. sound, history etc.) is used in a creative way and thus serves as a means of expression, a means of self-expression and a means of communication.

   Household Training

   This involves the training of practical life activities, e.g. shopping, in order to promote independence in the patient's own household.

   Snoezelen is also offered as an alternative.

   Which forms of therapy the patient participates in is decided in consultation between doctor, patient and occupational therapist.
